HENRY, Geraldine Gladys - With family by her side, Geraldine Gladys (Burrows) Henry passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London on Tuesday October 10th, 2017 at 3:55pm.. Gerry is survived by her daughters Brenda (Don Seaton 2005) and Heather Main (Bill Hampson ). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ryan Seaton, Melissa Bonney, Bryan Bonney (Dana Cadman) and Brendon Seaton. The chocolate bar Nana will be missed by her great-grandchildren Micaela and Emma Seaton, Coral Lilley, Ada and Ivy Bonney, Addison and Beau Bonney. Gerry is also survived by her older sister Violet Perry of Ottawa and her sister-in-law Eunice Henry of Burlington, by her nieces, nephews and cousins here in Canada and England. Gerry was born in London England, June 5, 1926 to parents Charles (1955) and Elizabeth (Ryan (1978) Burrows. She met her Canadian husband at the end of WWII and was very surprised when after the war he returned to ask her to marry him. Ken and Gerry married in 1948 and came to Canada only returning to England once for the birth of her daughter, although part of her heart always remained there. Gerry and Ken lived in Woodstock and Hickson, and after the death of her husband (1995) she moved to Ingersoll to live with her daughter. She made our clothes, winter coats, knitted cardigans, mitts and hats and loved to cook and garden. She loved chocolate and always had a hidden stash. Gerry was a lifetime member of the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary and of Woodstock Canadian Legion Branch #55. She volunteered as a parent supervisor at school events and was a member of School Parent/Teacher Associations. Gerry is the last surviving original member of the Overseas Club for War Brides. The celebration of life service will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, 184 Oxford Street, Ingersoll on Sunday October 15th, 2017 at 200pm. Reverend Meghan Nicholls officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00-2:00pm. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford County Museum School (in honour of her love for children) or a Charity of One’s Choice, and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 519-539-0004.
